The Town of Milton is raising a flag at Town Hall in honour of International Women’s Day (IWD).

IWD, which falls annually on Mar. 8, is a celebration around the world aimed to raise awareness about women’s equality.

The theme this year is #BreakTheBias, which encourages people to fight for inclusivity and a gender-equal world.

Along with the theme, people are being encouraged to take a photo with the IWD #BreakTheBias pose, in which people’s arms are crossed to show solidarity.

A tweet posted to the Town of Milton’s Twitter page featured photos with members of the community striking the #BreakTheBias pose outside of Town Hall.

“We acknowledge and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world,” wrote the Town on Twitter.

“A big thank you to all who joined us today as the International Women’s Day flag was raised at Town Hall in Milton.”
