It was recently announced that the Federal and Provincial Governments will be investing in the renewal of Civic Square in Burlington.

For several years, Civic Square has been a popular gathering space for Burlington residents and has held various memorable events such as Burlassic Park in 2019 for the Toronto Raptors championship.

The project will be receiving millions in funding with over $1.9 million coming from the Federal government and over $1.6 million coming from the Provincial government.

The City of Burlington will also be investing over $1.3 million in this project.

The revitalization will include the planting of trees and the replacement of existing pavement and stairs as well as the fountain which will be replaced with a new water feature.

Additionally, new seating will be installed and the outdoor mechanical and electrical systems will be upgraded.

“Burlington’s Civic Square is a beloved gathering space where our entire community comes together for countless events including flag raisings, concerts, festivals and friendship,” said Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

“The investment in its revitalization will create even more opportunity for the community to connect and engage with one another for decades to come.”

The investment aims to support Burlington’s efforts in making Civic Square an accessible and inclusive gathering and event space for the city’s residents and visitors.
