If you see drones flying over the rail corridor in Pickering this week, there’s no need to worry about your privacy or possible alien attack. It’s just Metrolinx performing aerial surveys as part of its GO Train expansion into Bowmanville.

To support the expansion Metrolinx is upgrading the rail network and the Remote Piloted Aircraft (RPAS/Drone) is being used to capture images and data for pre-engineering design mapping. The survey will support the design of future track and infrastructure updates.

The drone work will be done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. November 3-7, with the drone to flown over the corridor between the Rouge River and Squires Beach Road.

There will be staff on-site conducting and monitoring the operation.
