Metro Inc. recalls 21 products from Ontario stores due to possible Salmonella contamination

Over the weekend, Metro Ontario Inc. issued a recall for more than 20 products in its grocery stores throughout the province due to possible Salmonella contamination.
On Saturday (Nov. 28) the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued the notice which cited 21 Metro brand products for possible contamination.
“Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below,” the notice said.

Metro Inc. is Quebec-based the parent company of Food Basics and Metro grocery stores.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by the company and the government agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
“If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings,” they said.
The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
