What started as a traffic stop ended with trafficking charges for a Brampton man after police say they found $42,000 worth of meth and other drugs.
The bust happened on Saturday while an officer with the Grey Bruce detachment was patrolling Grey Road 3 near Sideroad 3 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, east of Owen Sound.
The officer’s Automated Licence Plate Reader registered a vehicle associated with a Highway Traffic Act violation, and the officer pulled the driver over.
That’s when police say the officer observed cannabis products inside the vehicle, which led to a search where 176 grams of suspected cocaine, nearly 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 19.4 grams of suspected fentanyl were located.
The drugs had a total estimated street value of $42,250, police say.
Police say Dru Norris, 26, of Brampton was arrested and charged with multiple drug trafficking-related offences. He was also charged with operation while prohibited, drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, drive while suspended, among other offences.
The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound and was remanded into custody.
