Kids can meet first responders and explore a fire truck, police car and ambulance before this week’s movie night in Mississauga.

Thursday’s (Aug. 17) Movie Night in Celebration Square is Paw Patrol: The Movie. The 2021 feature film has Ryder and the pups working to stop Mayor Humdinger from turning the bustling metropolis of Adventure City into a state of chaos, according to IMDb.

The movie is based on the popular kids cartoon series featuring a group of six rescue dogs, led by a tech-savvy boy named Ryder. Each pup has a specific set of skills based on emergency services professions such as a firefighter and a police officer.

So on that theme, emergency crews from Mississauga and Peel Region — including Peel Regional Police, Peel Regional Paramedic Services, and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services are expected to attend before the movie screening.

The weekly movie nights in Celebration Square are nearly over. After this week (Aug. 17), there are two more film nights — Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is on Aug. 24, and New Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is on Aug. 31.

The pre-show starts at Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr., at 7:30 p.m. and movies start at 8 p.m.

Plus, every Thursday in August, from 12 p.m. (noon) to 10:30 p.m., there will be a line-up of food trucks and artisan vendors.

The movie night events are weather permitting and subject to change. Call 905-615-3200 ext. 7465 to find out if an event has been cancelled due to weather.
