Bundle up, Hamilton — it’s going to be especially cold tonight.

The city’s Medical Officer of Health is issuing a cold weather alert effective tonight (Jan. 23), with temperatures set to drop to -16 degrees Celsius in the evening and a chance of flurries.

“The best place for you during a Cold Alert is indoors,” the city says. Residents who have to be outside are advised to dress in layers of clothing, drink warm fluids, and avoid strenuous exercise.

During evening cold weather alerts, Bennetto Recreation Centre at 450 Hughson St. N is available as a warming centre overnight from 5 pm until noon the next day. COVID-19 safety precautions remain in effect.
