If the hallmark of a great brewery is consistency, then Whitby’s Little Beasts Brewing has that down to a science, especially with their La petite duchesse Saison.

The beer, one of a line of world class Saisons that has earned owner and brewer Erin Broadfoot the unofficial title of Queen of the Saisons, took home the silver medal in the French or Belgian Saison category at the Canadian Brewing Awards (CBAs) in Quebec City Saturday night.

The silver was the second straight at the CBAs for La petite duchesses, which also earned a silver at the Ontario Brewing Awards in 2020.

“Nothing like consistency,” noted Broadfoot on social media, who knows all about getting a beer style down to a science, considering that her background is in microbiology and chemistry.

Little Beasts also came home with a silver medal at the 2020 CBAs for Birds of a Feather in the Flavoured Stout/Porter category and a bronze in the same category in 2018 for Hey Jupiter.

The brewery, which launched in late 2017, was named Best Newcomer at the 2018 Golden Taps Awards and added a gold medal on the same night at the Ontario Brewing Awards for their La saison d’hiver in the Belgian-style Dubbel category.
