Mayor’s concert combines music and art in Mississauga

A Mississauga concert combines art and music in one evening this month.

The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra presents The Ravel Experience, its upcoming concert sponsored by Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Living Arts Centre, the orchestra said in a press release.

Under the baton of artistic director and conductor Maestro Denis Mastromonaco, the evening honours the genius of French composer Maurice Ravel.

“Ravel’s music captures the imagination like few others,” says Mastromonaco. “It is vivid and deeply human. This concert brings together the power of symphonic storytelling, the virtuosity of soloist Cecilia Chow, and the spirit of civic celebration that defines Mississauga. We invite audiences to experience something
truly special.”

The Ravel Experience will feature three of his masterpieces — Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, Piano Concerto in G Major with pianist Cecilia Chow, and the orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Cecilia Chow, a Hong Kong-born artist celebrated for her expressive tone and virtuosity, has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America, earning top prizes at major international competitions. Chow’s performances are praised for their elegance, sensitivity and commanding artistry.

Following the performance, concertgoers are invited to a post-concert Mix and Mingle in the Living Arts Centre atrium, featuring a curated display from the Art Gallery of Mississauga’s permanent collection.

This collaboration between music and visual art provides a fitting conclusion to an evening that celebrates creativity in all forms, the orchestra said.

Tickets start at $50 with special pricing available for seniors, youth, and families. Showtime is 8 p.m.
