May 5 weather: Thunderstorms with 20 mm of rain in parts of southern Ontario

Tuesday could bring a risk of thunderstorms to the Greater Toronto Area and up to 20 mm of rainfall to parts of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will be cloudy with a 40 per cent to 60 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Oshawa.

Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Welland and Windsor could see 5 mm of rainfall in the morning.

There’s a risk of thunderstorms in the morning with showers expected in the afternoon. Wind gusts could hit up to 40 km/h in the GTA, and the high will be around 15 C.

Tuesday night could bring more showers with a 40 per cent chance in Mississauga, and more showers in the Niagara area with another 15 mm of rainfall possible.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, conditions will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers in Mississauga. The high will be around 11 C, with a low of 1 C.
