may 5, weather in southern ontario, rain, showers, thunderstorms.

Get those umbrellas ready because more rain is headed to southern Ontario!

The past few weeks have been filled with chilly, warm, and sunny weather, but persistent rain has remained constant and it looks like it will continue through the rest of the weekend.

Residents in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton, and Durham can expect to start their day with predominantly cloudy skies which may turn into a thunderstorm beginning either late morning or early afternoon.

Though it will be a damp day, temperatures are expected to be warmer. Daytime highs in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Hamilton will climb to 20 C, while Durham will be a few degrees cooler at 18 C.

The UV index will hit a moderate level of 3. Environment Canada suggests wearing protective clothing, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen when outdoors for extended periods, especially during midday hours when the sun is at its strongest.

As the evening progresses, the rain will dissipate, and the skies will clear in Mississauga and Brampton. In Halton and Hamilton, it will be partly cloudy, with the possibility of clearing by midnight. Meanwhile, Durham can expect cloudy conditions, with a risk of another thunderstorm. However, conditions are anticipated to improve by midnight.

Temperatures will cool off across the region with Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Durham reaching a low of 6 C, while Hamilton will slip to 5 C.

The week ahead promises more rain with sunny breaks. Temperatures are forecasted to range from 15 C to 23 C —which might be a good indication to pull out the spring jackets and store away the winter ones. Evenings will be relatively mild, with temperatures hovering between 6 C and 12 C.
