May 25 Weather: Weekend starts with chance of showers, thunderstorm in southern Ontario

You might want to throw that raincoat or umbrella in the car if you’re heading out later in the morning and afternoon on Saturday (May 25) in Mississauga and southern Ontario.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected throughout the day with a 60 percent chance of showers late in the morning and in the afternoon with a risk of a thunderstorm, according to the latest forecast by Environment Canada.

Winds will be east at 20 km/h becoming light in the morning. In the afternoon, the wind becomes west at 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h.

A high of 24 degrees Celsius is expected during the day. Humidex will be 30 with a UV index of 8 or very high.

It will remain partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers early in the evening and a risk of a thunderstorm. The wind will be northwest at 20 km/h becoming light in the evening.

A low of 11 degrees Celsius overnight.

We’ll get two extra minutes of sunlight with sunrise at 5:45 a.m. and we’ll get an extra minute of sunlight with the sun to set at 8:47 p.m.
