May 17 Weather: Risk of thunderstorms for southern Ontario

Residents in Mississauga and southern Ontario could be in for a wet, loud start to the long weekend on Friday (May 17).

The morning will see clouds roll in, followed by a possible 40 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, according to the latest forecast by Environment Canada.

The early morning hours will see fog patches dissipate. A high of 20 C is expected during the day, with a UV index of 5 or moderate.

The evening will also feature cloudy skies and it also could be wet with a 40 per cent of showers. There also remains the risk of a thunderstorm early on in the evening.

Fog patches are expected to develop after midnight. A low of 13 C is expected for the evening.

Sunrise comes a minute earlier at 5:52 a.m. while we will also get an extra minute of sunlight with the sun to set at 8:39 p.m.
