Home builders with projects in Pickering made repeated trips to the podium at last week’s BILD Awards, which recognize the best in new home construction and design in the GTA.

Mattamy Homes earned two prestigious Pinnacle Awards for its Bloom in Seaton housing project in north Pickering, including Project of the Year (Low-Rise) and the People’s Choice Award.

Bloom in Seaton is a sustainable community with energy efficient homes and amenities that help reduce its carbon footprint and Pickering Mayor Dave Ryan was quick to praise Mattamy, which has been building communities in Pickering for more than a decade.

“A few years ago we hosted a Sustainable Seaton: Community-Building Series to encourage sustainable homebuilding and … help shape the future of development here in Pickering,” he said. “We are thrilled to have homebuilders like Mattamy join us on our journey to becoming a more sustainable Pickering and hope many more do so in the future.”

Chestnut Hill Developments, which is busy carving out Pickering’s new city centre with its Universal City high rise towers, took home a Best Presentation Centre Award for its Universal City East project.

Mattamy also scored a couple of other awards for projects outside Durham Region.

Brookfield, which has projects on the go in Seaton, Whitby and Newcastle, was honoured with the Pinnacle Award for Builder of the Year (Low-Rise).

Established in 1980, the BILD Awards recognize excellence and innovation in the design, construction, sales and marketing of new homes in the Greater Toronto Area. The Awards are presented by the Building Industry and Land Development Association.

The myriad of awards celebrates all phases of bringing a new community to life from land use to technical suite design to creative marketing techniques.

The Association also presents prestigious Pinnacle Awards such as Home Builder of the Year for both mid/high-rise builders, and surveys new homeowners as part of the judging process.
