Massive power outage affecting almost three thousand homes and businesses in Brampton

A massive power outage is in effect in Brampton this afternoon (July 17).

Alectra reports that 2,700 homes and businesses are without power in the area of Sandalwood and Kennedy Rd.

The cause of the outage is believed to be equipment failure.

Residents who come across traffic lights that are not functioning are advised to treat them as all-way stops or follow instructions from officer directing traffic.

Crews are investigating and power is estimated to return by 3:30 p.m.
