Massive Lululemon facility opens soon bringing 1,500 new jobs to Brampton

After years of construction, doors will open at the new Lululemon distribution centre in Brampton this week for a look at the facility that’s expected to bring some 1,500 jobs to Brampton.

Lululemon was founded in Vancouver with one store in 1998 selling yoga-inspired apparel and has grown into one of the most popular athletic brands in the world, making athletic wear for running, cycling, and more.

Construction crews broke ground on the company’s new 1 million-square-foot facility in Brampton at 5525 Countryside Dr. in 2023, and Lululemon is inviting members of the media inside on Wednesday to showcase the centre’s automation technology.

Lululemon is holding a ribbon-cutting at the facility this week alongside Mayor Patrick Brown and other local leaders. The new distribution centre will be the company’s largest in both Canada and the U.S., and is expected to bring some 1,500 jobs to Brampton.

“The Brampton (Distribution Centre) truly exemplifies Lululemon’s commitment to innovation and investment in Canada, and was built as a fully integrated, end-to-end automation system,” the company says of the new facility.

Projects like Lululemon’s Brampton facility led Site Selection Magazine to name the city on its list of cities and regions attracting investors in 2023. Brampton saw a record $2 billion in total construction value in 2022, according to a report – up more than 131 per cent since 2018.
