Massive Lottery win for Brampton man

A Brampton man about to board a flight was so shocked after winning a massive $5 million dollar lottery prize that he cancelled his trip.

Brampton resident Mohd Beg said he was about to get on a plane when he decided to clean out his wallet before the trip.

The 58-year-old said he checked an old ticket from his wallet on the OLG app and was in disbelief when seeing he was suddenly a multi-millionaire.

“When I saw $5 million appear I couldn’t believe it. I scanned it again and again,” Beg said while picking up his massive prize at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I didn’t end up getting on my flight because I wouldn’t have been able to focus.”

Beg said he then headed straight home to wake up his wife and tell her the life-changing news.

“I told her I wasn’t getting on my flight and when she asked why, I showed her the OLG app. She was so excited,” Beg said.

The pair then shared the news with their daughters who they say were equally as shocked about the win.

Beg said he doesn’t have any big plans on how to spend the winnings yet, but the family is planning a vacation to celebrate what he called winning “the jackpot.”

Lotto 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Hurontario Street in Mississauga.
