Popular Japanese clothing store UNIQLO opens first store in Burlington

Major international clothing brand UNIQLO has officially arrived in Burlington.

The Japanese retailer, known for their premium LifeWear designed for both style and comfort, opens their newest store on Friday, April 25 at Burlington’s Mapleview Centre.

To celebrate the grand opening, the store will host a Japanese-style taiko drumming performance, and guests can enjoy free coffee from Two Bears and donuts from Sunshine Doughnut.

Additionally, the first 100 customers will receive a $10 UNIQLO gift card and free T by Daniel matcha samples!

For the entire grand opening weekend, shoppers will also be able to spin the Garapon wheel to win free prizes, and receive a limited-edition UNIQLO totebag on purchases of at least $100 (before tax, while supplies last).

Here’s a look at the opening day schedule for the new store:

  • 9:15 am: First 300 customers will receive free coffee from Two Bears Coffee and donuts from Sunshine Donuts
  • 9:35 am: Taiko drumming performance
  • 9:45 am: Opening speeches
  • 9:55 am: Ribbon-cutting ceremony
  • 10 am: Doors open to customers – first 100 customers will receive a $10 gift card and matcha samples

Shoppers should also look out for some stylish and exclusive Super Mario themed items, which will be launching early on the 25th only at the Mapleview Centre location.

The new store, UNIQLO’s 15th in Ontario and very first in Burlington, comes just in time for shoppers to update their wardrobes for the warmer weather ahead.

UNIQLO’s new Spring and Summer Collection features a wide range of stylish t-shirts, bra tops, shorts, skirts, dresses and more, made from natural and pleasantly breathable materials that are perfect for sunny moments.

Many items from this collection are premium linen made from 100% European flax, which is known for its comfortable feel and smooth, sleek texture that glides on skin, not against it.

The linen’s breathability comes from the way the ultra-fine fibers absorb sweat and easily release moisture, making it very ideal for those hot and humid days.

The collection also features AirSense and UV Protection pieces, which help keep you cool and insulated even when the summer sun is beating down.

Beyond the Spring and Summer Collection, shoppers will find many more of the premium LifeWear that has made UNIQLO so popular, all made with the same attention to detail and quality that the brand has become known for.

Founded in 1949 in Yamaguchi, Japan as a textiles manufacturer, UNIQLO’s long history has seen them expand to one of the biggest fashion brands in the world. They now operate over 2,400 stores worldwide, including this brand new store in Burlington.

Save the date – the new store opens 10 a.m. on Friday, April 25 on the lower level of Burlington’s Mapleview Centre! Visit UNIQLO’s website for more info.
