Both Halton school boards will lift mandatory masking regulations when classes resume Mar. 21 for students in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.

However, both boards have also said they will allow staff, students and visitors to continue to wear masks if they want to.

The Government of Ontario recently announced some COVID-19 health and safety measures will be lifted effective Monday, Mar. 21, the day schools get back from March break.

According to a Halton District School Board spokesperson, “masks will no longer be required for students, staff and visitors in schools, school board offices and on student transportation. We know many students and staff may choose to continue to wear masks at times, or consistently for the remainder of the school year. Masks will continue to be available for students and staff who wish to continue to wear them.”

The Halton Catholic board provided a statement that took the same stance.
