Passengers riding Brampton Transit will have to keep masks on until mid-June.

The City of Brampton has extended its COVID-19 mask mandate for city transit buses which was set to expire on April 27.

Transit riders are required to continue wearing masks on Brampton Transit buses and inside transit terminals until midnight on June 11, which aligns with the province’s masking requirements which were also extended on Monday.

“Riders are reminded that masks are required to cover their mouth, chin and nose,” the city said in a release. “Riders are also reminded to stay safe and help protect others by carrying hand sanitizer, washing their hands frequently and to stay home and not travel if feeling unwell.”

The provincial masking requirements also extend to:

  • Health care settings including hospitals, doctors’ offices, and clinics that provide healthcare services.
  • Shelters and other congregate care settings that provide care and services to medically and socially vulnerable individuals.
  • Long-term care homes.
  • Retirement homes.

A complete list of settings where masking requirements continue to apply is available here.

The City of Brampton is working closely with its partners at Peel Public Health, the Government of Ontario, and the Brampton Emergency Management Office to continue to monitor risks.
