A new health and wellness facility called Serenity Temple is proposed for a vacant piece of land along the Welland River on the outskirts of Niagara Falls.
The proposal for the 12.84 hectare property is to build a three-storey multi-use health and wellness facility along Chippawa Creek Road between Heartland Forest Road and Garner Road, according to a planning application to the City of Niagara Falls.
A Kung Fu martial arts school, retreat lodging, accommodation suites are proposed in the first phase of the development. And a conference centre is proposed for the second phase. A spa, yoga studio, more suites and noodle restaurant would come next in the last phase.
The application proposes a total of 10 accommodation suites along with parking areas — two lots with 79 and 56 spaces, and a natural walking trail.
Currently there is a barn on the property along with open grassed areas, provincially significant wetlands and woodlands.
The property is on the edge of an emerging mixed-use development area. The Region of Niagara’s Garner Road Biosolids Facility is just north of the property and Grand Niagara Golf Course is across the river.
There will be a virtual open house to learn more about the proposal on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. Public input is welcome. To learn more, see the notice on the City of Niagara Falls website.
