There is a new format for the Joseph Brant Hospital’s Auxiliary fundraiser this year.

Gone is the auction sale of items and its place is a two-day marketplace where shoppers can select from a collection of antiques, jewellery, silverware, artwork and collectibles.

Items for sale have been donated by the public.

The sale will take place Friday and Saturday (May 3 and 4) at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church, at 662 Guelph Line.

Since 1997 these sales have raised over $1.1 million for the hospital with the funds going to support the purchase of equipment such as special lights used for surgery, patient chairs in the cancer clinic and stretchers for the emergency department.

The auxiliary has been supporting the hospital since 1959, well before the healthcare facility opened. During this time it has undertaken several fundraising initiatives and has pledged $5 million to support Joseph Brant’s Redevelopment and Expansion Project.

A preview of items for sale can be found by following this link.

Hours of the marketplace are 4 to 7 p.m. on May 3, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 4.
