March 7 Weather: Here comes the sun to southern Ontario

After a couple of warm, wet days in the GTA today is supposed to be sunnier than much of the last week.

According to Environment Canada’s sensors at Pearson Airport in Mississauga, temperatures will hit 10 degrees on March 7 and the day will be mostly sunny.

The day will start cool with temperatures around -1 degree by 6 a.m. with a partially clouded sky. However, the cloud coverage will fall away by noon while temperatures climb to 7 degrees.

The afternoon will remain purely sunny and warm for the season throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will peak at 10 degrees by 3 p.m. ahead of sundown a little after 6 p.m.

Skies will remain clear overnight, but a bit of cloud coverage will return for tomorrow morning.

There is a 0 per cent chance of rain tomorrow and winds will remain low throughout the day, reaching about 10 km/h in the afternoon.

Temperatures will be unusually high for this time of year. Per Environment Canada, the average high on March 7 is about 2 degrees. However, the highest temperature of nearly 17 degrees was recorded back in 1987.
