March 5 weather: Risk of freezing rain in southern Ontario

Thursday’s forecast calls for a chance of freezing rain and drizzle in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of freezing drizzle in the afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Halton Hills, Oshawa and Pickering.

Wind gusts could hit up to 50 km/h in the GTA with a high of around 1 C expected in Mississauga.

Thursday night could bring rain ending around midnight, with a risk of freezing rain in the evening and overnight in Mississauga.

The low will be steady around 1 C overnight in Mississauga.

Looking ahead to Friday, conditions are expected to be cloudy with a high of around 6 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers in the evening with a low of 7 C.
