The snow may be covering them now, but when it melts — and it is expected to do so — leaves will still be collected in some Brampton neighbourhoods.
Leaf vacuuming has already started and will continue until mid-December.
An interactive map where you can type in your street to find out the status of leaf collection can be found by following this link.
This program includes collecting leaves from specific streets in downtown Brampton and in the residential area of the Churchville Neighbourhood. These areas contain aged infrastructure, support a significant tree canopy and are located within the local Conservation Authority designated flood plain, which places them at higher risk of flooding.
The remainder of the city is serviced by the Region of Peel’s Waste Collection Program.
Before cleaning, notices will be delivered to program area residents. Each street is identified on the map.
Using leaf vacuum vehicles, work crews collect the leaves residents rake to the curb. The program is provided in partnership with the Region of Peel in neighbourhoods which have a large volume of leaves, by providing recycling services at the Region of Peel’s Composting Facility.
“Please note that private streets and condominiums in leaf collection zones do not receive the program service,” according to the city.
- For downtown and Churchville neighbourhoods, rake your leaves into a neat pile on the boulevard’s edge or into your ditch a day or two before the start of your collection.
- Do not mix other items such as wood, bricks, or brush as they can damage equipment and injure workers.
- Do not pile your raked leaves on the sidewalk.
- Keep the road and curbside storm drains clear of raked leaves.
- Do not place garbage bags or bins on top of loose-leaf piles.
- Remove parked cars and sports equipment from the road.
