As of Monday (December 20), all Ontarians over the age of 18 can book an appointment for a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

However, while they are now eligible, many Brampton residents are reportedly struggling to secure an appointment.

According to Reddit user u/missalizr, they have been unable to even find locations in Brampton offering boosters.

“There’s nothing on the provincial booking system in Brampton, the closest it’s giving me is either in Toronto at Woodbine Centre or Caledon. I called the number but the person I spoke with gave me the same information,” they shared on the Brampton subreddit page.

Additionally, some users have found places that are offering boosters, such as Woodbine Centre, are booked through the first three weeks of January.

Brampton resident Katherine Sterne reported having trouble booking an appointment to receive a booster before the end of 2021.

“The earliest I could book an appointment for a booster in Brampton is mid-January,” Sterne shared on Twitter. “I guess I am scrambling to find a pop-up so I can potentially teach in January.  This is not how we should have done things if we are prioritizing schools being open.”

However, while many have struggled booking appointments through the provincial booking portal, some have reported having success booking directly through pharmacies’ websites.

“I booked an appointment through Shoppers on Friday for end of December,” Reddit user u/DayDayLarge commented on u/missalizr’s post.

Further, some who have been persistent have reportedly had success finding earlier appointments.

“Keep trying to update it.  I went from January 11th to December 14th and also much closer than the original appointment,” Paul Brandon replied on Twitter to Sterne.
