Caledon tops happiest cities list with average home price of $1.4 million

What happens when you combine a 1950s diner, a shooting range and a private library? You get a stunning castle of a home in Caledon, all for a cool $7.8 million.

This one-of-a-kind palatial mansion located at 9 Flaherty Ln. in north Caledon boasts an astonishing 20,000 square feet of living space on 10.6 acres of forested property that includes three ponds with your very own waterfall and gazebo.

The impressive home has six bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, an eat-in chef’s kitchen with high-end appliances and a fully finished basement, but it’s the extras – like secret passageways and a karaoke party room – that really make this property stand out.

The basement features a starlight hallway that leads to an in-home theatre and recording studio, as well as a games room, recreation room with a built-in wet bar, a pool and even an indoor firing range.

There’s also a ’50s-style diner, a huge solarium and conservatory, and a two-storey library that feels like something pulled from the pages of a fantasy novel.

If all the wild features still aren’t enough to seal the deal, then consider all the parking you’ll have in the home’s five-car garage. You’ll also have plenty of room to put up guests and visitors in the upstairs private nanny’s quarters.

Real estate website Zoocasa.com says the castle in the woods went back on the market on Wednesday with an asking price of $7.8 million after previously selling for $6.9 million in July of 2022, well above the average sale price in Caledon of $1,175,119.
