A man is celebrating his third big lottery win in less than nine months in Canada.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation said in a news release that Lethbridge, Alberta resident David Serkin won $1 million from the May 3 Lotto 6/49 gold ball draw.

It comes after Serkin won $500,000 from the Aug. 20 Lotto Max draw, and then $1 million from the Nov. 16 Lotto 6/49 draw.

That means in less than nine months, from three separate wins, Serkin has taken home $2.5 million.

“To say this is rare would be an understatement,” the release said.

And Serkin definitely agrees.

“I know the odds are astronomical,” he said.

“I don’t think it’ll happen again, but I still like buying tickets.”

Serkin has played Lotto 6/49 since the game launched in 1982.

“You check your ticket and if you win, you’re happy. If you don’t, you can always try again,” he said.

“I’m a cancer survivor and I’m retired, so I am just grateful for all of it.”

He bought his latest winning ticket when getting gas.

“I saw the gold ball draw was getting close [to the final ball selection] and thought, ‘What do I have to lose?'” he recalled.

Serkin’s wife and his friends are shocked at his winning streak.

“I went for coffee with the boys after I checked my ticket,” he said.

“They asked to see it and said, ‘Not again?'”

After his last win, Serkin went to Hawaii with his wife and now, they will be going on a trip to Newfoundland.
