Man wanted for for theft of Salvation Army donation stand from Whitby No Frills

Police are on the lookout for a man who broke through the storefront window of a Whitby No Frills and made off with a Salvation Army donation bin on a stand.

Workers at the 920 Dundas Street No Frills first encountered the man on November 24 as he was stealing food from the store. When workers confronted the man, he paid for his items and left the store.

 

The man returned to the store around 4 a.m. the next morning. He smashed through the front window the store with a concrete block and grabbed the empty Salvation Army stand. All told the man caused $1,800 in damages.

The man is described as white, 30-40 years old, with a slim build, standing around 5-8 or 5-9. He was wearing bulky blue and brown jacket with the hood up, blue pants and old faded white running shoes, according to police. He was also wearing a blue backpack with a round, green case attached.
