Man struck and killed by dump truck in Mississauga

A man described as being in his 60s was struck and killed by a dump truck while walking in south Mississauga this afternoon (July 15).
Peel Regional Police say the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Lakeshore Rd. E. and Elmwood Ave. S. at about 2 p.m.
He was rushed to hospital in Toronto, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Although police have not yet released any further details, reports from the scene indicate the pedestrian was a man in his 60s and that the vehicle in question was a dump truck.
The man reportedly had to be extricated from underneath the truck by Mississauga firefighters before being taken to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
Police say Lakeshore Rd. E. is now closed between Elmwood and Oakwood Aves. as the Major Collision Bureau has been called to the scene to investigate.
