Man stabbed on bus in Oshawa

One man is in custody after police claim he stabbed another man on a bus in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police allege one man approached another on a Durham Regional Transit bus near King St. and Stevenson Rd. shortly after 3 a.m. on March 9. Investigators claim the man stabbed the victim twice before fleeing the bus.

A suspect was found a short distance away and arrested. The victim’s non-life-threatening injuries were treated in a Toronto hospital.

Police believe the suspect was involved in a similar incident a few days prior. They claim he assaulted another elderly DRT rider back on March 3 around 5 a.m. However, the victim in this case left the area before police arrived.

Corey Vaskamp, 29 of Oshawa, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous and four counts of breaching probation.
