A man was shot multiple times near a major mall in Brampton on Wednesday.
Peel Regional Police Const. Amanda Steenson said that at around 9:11 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Dixie Road and Lisa Street, which is just south of Queen Street East, near Bramalea City Centre.
Officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a local trauma centre and as of Thursday morning was reported to be in non-life-threatening condition.
Steenson said it’s believed the shooting happened in a plaza in the area of Dixie Road and Lisa Street.
“At this time, I do not have suspect information to provide,” she said.
Officers have since cleared the scene.
“Investigators from the 22 Division Major Crime Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation,” Steenson said.
“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the 22 Division Major Crime Unit at 905-453-2121, ext. 2290.”
Police said Wednesday night that there was no known threat to public safety.
