Man shot by Toronto Police in north Oshawa

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a Toronto Police Service officer shot a man this morning in north Oshawa.

Toronto Police officers executed multiple warrants around six a.m. Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation at a residence near Simcoe Street North and Windfields Farm Drive West in Oshawa.

During an altercation outside the residence, one officer shot one of the suspects. Paramedics took the man to hospital where he remains. His condition has not been released.

Five investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

One subject official and two witness officials have been designated at this time.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and the discharge of a firearm at a person.
