Emergency crews from all over Durham were called to rescue a man stuck in quicksand for more than seven hours at a cement yard in Sunderland Saturday night.

The man was walking through the Canada Building Materials yard in Sunderland when he got stuck in mud/quicksand around seven p.m.

Oshawa Fire Services Technical Rescue Team was called to assist Brock Township’s Fire Department and were eventually joined by Durham Region Paramedics and Durham Police.

They were able to finally extricate the man from the mud around 2:30 Sunday morning.
