A Toronto man is on the run following a shooting at a home in the rural municipality of Fort Erie.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Niagara Regional Police sent out officers with 5 District to Village Creek Dr. between Old Mill Rd. and Ott Rd. The area is home to a suburban development near the Fort Erie Conservation Club in the municipality’s western reaches.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assessed the victim and transported him to a trauma centre for “advanced medical care.” He has since been listed as in stable condition.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigative Branch have taken over the investigation with aid from the Forensic Services Unit. They have identified a suspect who they believe knew the victim. Investigators also believe this was a targeted attack.

Police are on the lookout for Aynla Mustafa Hassan, 30 from North York, on an aggravated assault charge. Investigators say Hassan is considered armed and dangerous.

They describe him as a Black man standing five-feet-eight-inches and weighing about 190 pounds. He has black, braided hair and was wearing a black tracksuit.

Police additionally believe Hassan is behind the wheel of a brown 2008 Chevrolet Malibu.
