Update August 22: Vinayagamoorthy has been found.

A man missing from Brampton for most of the week has been spotted in Toronto, but the police aren’t sure how he got there.

Mathavan Vinayagamoorthy, 21, was last seen near McVean Dr and Castlemore Rd, home to a large commercial plaza, around 2 p.m. August 14.

He was neither seen nor heard from until 1:25 a.m. in a Toronto subway station near Warden Ave & St. Clair Ave, roughly between East York and Scarborough.

Peel Regional Police are unsure how or why Vinayagamoorthy went to the far side of the city.

Investigators describe Vinayagamoorthy as a South Asian male, standing 5’5”, with a medium build and a medium complexion. When last seen he was wearing black pants, a grey hoodie, and black running shoes.

“He has limited access to money and left his cell phone at home,” police said. Officers and Vinayagamoorthy’s family are concerned for his well being.

Anyone with information regarding Vinayagamoorthy’s whereabouts can call Peel Police at (905) 453–2121, Ext. 2133.  or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
