A 37-year-old man is facing serious charges including aggrevated assault after intentionally running over another man with his vehicle in Clarington.

Members of Durham Regional Police’s East Division were called to the area of Concession St. E. and Trudeau Drive just east of downtown in the early hours of Saturday morning (Sept 4).

Upon arrival, police discovered a man laying on the sidewalk suffering from severe life-altering injuries.

An initial investigation determined that the man had gotten into an argument with a male suspect and was then intentionally run over by the suspect with his vehicle.

Police say the two men are known to one another and this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

37-year-old Cory Fisher has been charged with the following four offences:

  • dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm
  • aggravated assault
  • assault with a weapon
  • failure to comply with probation

Police say he was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with new information that could help investigators is asked to contact Detective Constable Hilliard of the East Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1657.
