A man was taken into custody on Thursday night after a two-vehicle collision in Brampton, where one person ran from the scene.
At 9:12 p.m., Peel Regional Police officers were called to respond to a collision at Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive East. Reports said that a Black male, who was about five-foot-eight and wearing a burgundy jacket and red backpack, fled from the scene on foot.
A male was arrested a short time later “without incident,” the Peel police said.
The Ontario Highway Traffic Act requires anyone who is involved in a collision to remain at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, so motorists are likely well-advised to avoid the intersection for the next while.
