Man in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in Niagara Falls

An early morning shooting has sent one man to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

A report of a shooting around 1:38 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 sent both Niagara Falls uniform officers and the Niagara Regional Police Service to Summer Street near Main Street in Niagara Falls, Niagara Regional Police Service said.

A man in his 20s was found laying injured on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.  Paramedics treated him at the scene, he was transported to a local hospital, and later flown to an out of region trauma hospital for further care in critical condition.

Witnesses possibly saw black sport utility vehicle and black sedan leaving the area of the shooting at a high rate of speed.

Two district detectives and detectives from the Forensic Services Unit have been assigned to the investigation.  The active investigation is in its early stages, police added.
