Police respond to person in crisis in Brampton

Police are hunting a man on an attempted murder charge after several shots were fired at another man early Wednesday morning (Dec. 14) in northwest Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in finding Elijah Simpson-Sweeney, 22, of no fixed address, who’s wanted in connection with the violent incident that unfolded just before 2:30 a.m. in the area of Tenth Line W. and Derry Rd.

Police haven’t released many details surrounding the incident.

They’ll only say that officers responding to the shooting call were told by the victim that he and another man had been involved in an altercation.

Police say the confrontation escalated and the victim suffered minor injuries. The man with whom he was fighting then pulled out a gun and “fired multiple gunshots towards the victim, not striking the victim,” investigators said.

Investigators from Peel police 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau are urging anyone with information on the wanted man or the incident to contact them at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
