Man hit in bus shelter, suffers life-altering injuries in Hamilton

A vehicle struck and seriously injured a Hamilton man while he was waiting in a bus shelter on Thursday.

Hamilton Police said a Ford Edge SUV was exiting the parking lot of the Tim Hortons Plaza onto King Street East near Dundurn Street North, travelling westbound, when it lost control and struck a 54-year-old man who was waiting in the shelter for the bus just after 4:30 p.m. on June 25.

The man was transported to hospital with serious, life-altering injuries, police said.

The female driver of the Ford Edge was not injured, police added.

Police said all investigative avenues are being considered at this time.

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

Investigators are ask any drivers in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras, and that any residences or businesses with surveillance cameras to review their footage.
