Man from Oshawa faces 13 charges in sexual assault cases from the 1990s

Toronto Police have arrested a man from Oshawa in connection to historical sexual assault investigations dating back to the mid-nineties.

Investigators believe that between 1994 and 1996 a man befriended young girls between the ages of nine and 14 in the Scarborough areas in his social circle before sexually assaulting them.

Arasakumar Saveremuthu, 70, was arrested in connection with the investigation. He has been charged with 13 offences including; six counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference, and two counts of invitation to sexual touching.

He appeared in court in Toronto on October 28. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.
