A Caledon man faces several charges after fleeing a RIDE spot check.

Caledon OPP say they were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on the Highway 410 off ramp to Valleywood Boulevard on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Shortly after 8 p.m., police stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver.

While being questioned, police say they saw what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage in the middle console.

The driver then fled the scene. The man was later found at his residence.

A 63-year-old man from Caledon was charged with flight from a peace officer, operation of a vehicle while prohibited, dangerous operation of a vehicle,  driving while under suspension, and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date to answer to the charges.
