Man finally scores huge lottery win in Ontario after 20 years

A man has scored a huge win after playing the lottery in Ontario for around 20 years.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced that Etobicoke resident Ivan C. won the top prize on a Crossword Deluxe scratch ticket.

The 60-year-old said he has played the lottery with the OLG for about two decades, enjoying a variety of games, and this marked his first big win.

As he played the ticket, he initially thought he won $25,000.

“I scanned it using the OLG app and realized I actually won $250,000,” he said.

“My heart started beating faster. In that moment, I began crying happy tears.”

Ivan then shared the news with his wife and daughter.

“They were so happy,” he said.

“It’s an amazing feeling to win big.”

Ivan said he plans to save for retirement and invest for the future with his winnings.

“Maybe we’ll move closer to our grandkids. We still have lots of planning to do,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased in Etobicoke at Aarsh Convenience on Rathburn Road.
