Man charged with first-degree murder in Oshawa

A 32-year-old male has been taken into custody after the body of a man with obvious signs of trauma was located at an Oshawa residence Friday morning.
Durham Regional Police were called to an address in the new micro homes on Drew Street to check on the wellbeing of a man. Upon arrival, police say they discovered a victim with no vital signs. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not reveal any more details at the time.

Today police announced that a male suspect was arrested at the scene without incident. Oshawa man Justin Steeves, 32, has now been charged with first-degree murder, the second homicide in the city this year.
An autopsy for the victim has been attended to by the coroner. Although the identity of the deceased is known, investigations will wait until the post-mortem examination is completed before releasing more information.
The investigation is ongoing.
