A 28-year-old man was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead after being pulled from a backyard pool near Third Line and Bridge Rd. in Oakville on Friday (June 2).

This marks the second drowning in a backyard pool in Oakville in less than a week.

Halton Regional police responded to an address on Samford Place last Friday at around 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a male without vital signs after drowning in a backyard pool.

Halton Emergency Services and Oakville Fire Department also responded.

Police say the victim was pulled from the pool by the home owner and emergency services personnel.

“Life saving measures efforts were attempted and the male was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” said Cst. Steve Elms of the Halton Regional Police.

This is the second tragic drowning in Oakville in the past week. A three-year-old boy also drowned in a backyard pool on Saturday, May 27 at a Warwick Ave. residence. He was attending a birthday party.
