Man dies shortly after interacting with police in Brampton

There was an incident that occurred early Sunday morning where the Peel Regional Police (PRP) responded to a disturbance call.

On Sunday (Apr. 2), 2023, at approximately 4 a.m., Peel Regional Police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment building in the area of Kennedy Rd N/Vodden St E in Brampton.

SIU says that the PRP was involved in an interaction with a man, who was later apprehended by officers under the Mental Health Act.

Shortly after the interaction with the police, the man went into distress and then went vital signs absent.

The officers administered first aid to the man until Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene.

The 34-year-old man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the deceased man has not been released to the public as the investigations are ongoing.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 34-year-old man.
