Man dies after being struck by SUV in parking lot in Pickering

A man is dead after being struck by an SUV in a Pickering parking lot Saturday night.

Durham Regional Police say officers were called around 10:15 p.m. to 1105 Kingston Rd., following reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police say a black Ford SUV was travelling through the parking lot when it hit the man, who became trapped beneath the vehicle.

The SUV was lifted by officers to free the man before providing life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the 68-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police say.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
