Man dead after head-on crash north of Oshawa, Ontario

One man died following a crash north of Oshawa on the weekend.

Emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle crash on Highway 7/12 near the Fourth Line in Port Perry just before 6 a.m. on Sunday, the Ontario Provincial Police said.

The initial investigation indicates that two passenger vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when a head-on collision occurred, the OPP said.

Police said a 53-year-old man from Sunderland was pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old man from Innisfil was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and a 35-year-old man from North York was airlifted to a regional trauma centre with serious injuries, police said.

All northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 7/12 in Port Perry were closed for investigation on Sunday morning.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
