Man charged with using fraudulent COVID-19 document at Pearson Airport

Police have charged a man with allegedly using a fraudulent COVID-19 document at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Peel police say that on Sunday, March 21, 2021, a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer was conducting an inspection check of various entry documents, including a negative COVID-19 document, when police were informed that the document appeared to be fraudulent.

It was subsequently reviewed by public health.

Police say a 45-year-old Edmonton man was arrested and charged with knowingly using a forged document. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared in court on March 22.

He was subsequently released from custody, with conditions, and returned to CBSA at Toronto Pearson Airport for processing by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact the Airport Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-3311, ext. 3120.
